Driving Directions from the Atlanta Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport.
From the Atlanta Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport take I-85 north through the city of Atlanta. As a point of reference, about 15 miles north of the city I-285 crosses over I-85 (locally known as “Spaghetti Junction”), we are 92 miles north from that point. Continue on I-85 beyond Spaghetti Junction north to I-985 north. I-985 is roughly 15 to 20 miles north of I-285. I-985 forks off to the left of I-85 and takes you through Gainesville, Clarkesville and into Clayton. On the way I-985 also becomes US-23 and US-441. Expect about a 2-hour ride from the Airport to Chota Falls.
Landmarks to be aware of as you get close to Chota Falls are Tallulah Falls (Gorge), several miles more, Rabun County High School on the right. Be aware of the speed limit change to 45 miles per hour as you approach Tallulah Falls Gorge. This gorge offers a turn off for visitors to view this large scenic cut in the earth’s crust where sounds of rushing water echo up steep granite cliff walls.
Exactly 8.2 miles beyond the Tallulah Falls bridge, or one mile north of the high school, is a small bridge that crosses Stekoa Creek. Immediately after this bridge turn right onto Rickman Airfield Road by a small site sign that reads Chota. Please drive slowly and stay to the right, as this road forks and narrows. Chota Falls is 1.7 miles down on Rickman Airfield Road. “Chota” signs will mark the way.
Please note: 1.3 miles down Rickman Airfield Road you will turn sharply to the right over a single lane concrete bride, where on the other side, the road continues to the left along a short scenic drive of split rail fence, pastureland and a covered bridge before coming to a very tall hemlock hedge on your right. Just ahead parking signs will guide you to a parking lot on the right. On the opposite side is the main event center, The Villa Campania. If you are a guest staying at one of our accommodations, our staff will be glad to direct you to your lodge and point out your room location. As a guest arriving for a waterfall ceremony, from the parking lot proceed back across the road and cross over the stone bridge up to the right. Guests arriving for a vineyard chapel wedding, our steeple can be seen peaking above the trees from the parking lot to the left.
